Listen to this & B well (March 2021)
You're Welcome - A Day to Remember
The more I listen to this album, the more it grows on me. A melodic punky vibe with a bit of hardcore thrown in for good measure. Stand out tracks for me: "Mindreader", "F.Y.M." can't wait till I have some f*ck you money, "High Diving" my favorite track, "Viva La Mexico", "Degenerates", and "Re-Entry" I don't drink too much, I just drink enough.
Warrior/Underrated - Atreyu
It's hard to believe I was 24 when I first heard Atreyu. They were the band that really got me into hardcore, hardcore metal and what I affectionately refer to as "Death Hair Metal." I've lost track of how many times I've seen them live and I don't think I've ever been disappointed with one of their releases...in fact most of them remind me of a time or event in my life. This one definitely keeps the tradition of not being disappointed. The EP starts with the track "Warrior" which, through the majority of the song, just has their traditional sound. Then, almost 2 minutes into the song Travis Barker has this kickass drumline style drum solo. Then they launch into "Underrated" which is a perfect song and maybe a reflection on their 20 year career...we are underrated, love it or hate it.
Shut Up - Tyler Posey, phem, Travis Barker
A catchy little pop punk track. "I used to be a f*ck up but I'm a f*ck up counting days...""...are you counting my mistakes...""...don't speak it'll make it worse...""...your words only make it hurt so shut up shut up shut up"
I DON'T BELIEVE IN ANYTHING - The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Another band I've been listening to for quite some time...my Dad actually introduced them to me in '93 with the release of there third album and EP. After that I got into their first 2 albums. Unfortunately I feel after the release of "Let's Face It" I stopped listening. This is the second single this year and they are 2 for 2 and winning me back as a fan!
Parallelograms - Joystick!
This song makes me want to get up and moonstomp! A very catchy skacore track.
Good F**King Music - Solence
The title says it all! "All you need is just some..."
How Am I Still Alive? - Lauren Hibbard, The Regrettes, Lydia Night
A fantastic female fronted pop punk track!
Awakening from Dukkha - Nine Treasures
Latest release from a kickass Mongolian metal band!
Olympia, WA - Molly Tuttle
This is how you do a cover. She completely made this song her own and I love it!
White Shadow - The Bronx
Another band I've been listening to for almost 20 years. Another band that never disappoints!
Elephant March - Belvedere
A ridiculously catchy melodic punk song.
Neutrogena Spektor - Origami Angel
An incredibly clever song about being comfortable with how you look and who you are.
Igotlostinsidemyhead - moshimoshi
This is a band I'm excited to hear more from! EP out in April...can't wait! I don't even know how to describe them...punky, thrashy, kick assy!
I Wanna Go Out - Wavy Trees
At first listen and the state of the world this last year, you would think this is a punk rock anthem for how most people have been feeling this past year...but if you listen closely, I think he's actually singing about being too f*cked up to go outside...which makes it even better.
Don't Back Down - Mammoth WVH
He plays every instrument and also all vocals on this single. I have no doubt his father is looking down and flashing that signature smile. This kid has some serious talent and I look forward to hearing more!
(In case you didn't know/figure it out - this is Eddie Van Halen's son.)
I really hesitated on whether I wanted to add who his father was. Wolfgang is incredibly talented and deserves to be judged/criticized based on HIS talent, not his father's. However, take all of this in and listen to "Distance." I got goosebumps the first time I listened to it.
